Biography
moody melancholy • dark elegance • somber serenity
My name is Margo(sha) and I’m a visual artist specializing in fine art nature photography. I have worked in the artistic space since 2013, but I rediscovered my passion for photography in 2024 after multiple visits from a curious Barred Owl.
Before that, I hadn’t touched a camera in years. Although I have always loved photography, after taking a few photojournalist courses in college, I got disenchanted with the whole process. But then one mid summer, a Barred Owl took up the habit of visiting my backyard. So, eager to capture the memory, I borrowed my friend’s camera and snapped some photos. It was then that it occurred to me how much I missed the feeling of hearing the shutter click, knowing I was in sole possession of a unique moment in time.
Turns out, I just didn’t like photojournalism because I much more prefer telling the stories of animals versus those of people. I have found such an appreciation for the little lives hiding all around us, and I strive to showcase even the most common critters in a unique and distinctive way, while still staying true to my inherently moody and somewhat dark aesthetic.
There is so much poetry in the living world and it’s creatures, and I am aspiring to write it through my lens.
